Die zugrunde liegenden Lernprozesse wurden auf theoretischer Ebene zwar thematisiert, in der Empirie jedoch selten oder auf unterschiedlichste Weise analysiert. In dieser Arbeit werden die unterschiedlichen Ansätze sozialen Lernens systematisiert und empirisch überprüft. Im Mittelpunkt stehen allgemeine Lernprozesse für delinquentes Verhalten bei Jugendlichen und die besondere Bedeutung delinquenter Freunde. Zur Überprüfung der aufgestellten Hypothesen wurden latente Strukturgleichungsmodelle und simultane Gruppenvergleiche auf foundation des Panels einer Duisburger Schülerbefragung modelliert. Deutlich wird in den gefundenen Ergebnissen vor allem eines: Für die Variable der delinquenten Freunde sollte in Zukunft ein sorgfältigerer methodischer Umgang stattfinden. Während die Variablen der Lerntheorie grundsätzlich in der Lage sind, delinquentes Verhalten zu erklären, zeigen Gruppenvergleiche zwischen Jugendlichen mit und ohne delinquente Freundesgruppe kaum Unterschiede in ihren Lernprozessen.
